ABOUT THIS ROLE
Audible is seeking a Manager, Catalog Operations, who will manage a team that works to maintain the Audible catalog through accurate editing and update of consistent product metadata, including core metadata relationships that aid customer discovery and navigation through internal channels and external search engines. In this role, you’ll work closely with internal teams and manage queues to ensure the metadata you own is published correctly, accurately, in a timely manner, and in accordance with search engine optimization best practices.

You’re confident and an upbeat communicator via written and verbal business communication skills.

As a Manager of Catalog Operations, you will….
- Manage and develop a team of metadata operators by embodying Audible’s People Principles
- Supervise and coordinate catalog maintenance to ensure on-time publishing of all updated content to all required surfaces and best possible customer experience
- Become and act as a subject matter expert on operational workflows and technical processes within the system, acting as primary information source for the team in order to maintain compliance and consistency, and take corrective action where needed
- Drive, manage and work on cross-functional projects in the Catalog Operations area
- Plan, coordinate, and execute metadata change requests from customers, authors, and content providers and assist with ad-hoc update projects encompassing large swaths of the catalog
- Provide in-depth knowledge and guidance, coaching, and direction to team members using knowledge and application of standardized operations and procedures and regular communication with colleagues, immediate superiors, and partners to help interpret or clarify technical information to aid understanding and ability to adapt style accordingly
- Recommend modifications to existing processes, methods, and approaches to Catalog Operations workflows and systems and work closely with global team, product managers, and tech on improvements and new features

Basic Qualifications

- B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree
- 3+ years of experience in a position of responsibility in editorial/publishing
- Experience in project management and proven ability to manage multiple projects or tasks at different stages in parallel and deal with ambiguous situations
- Technical proficiency in Windows operating environment, including the use of Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Familiarity with SEO concepts

Preferred Qualifications

- B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree in the humanities
- Experience working in web-based publishing environment, with proven experience in CMS databases and metadata editing
- Demonstrated multi-tasking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Familiarity with the ONIX publishing standard for rich book metadata
- Demonstrated experience as a team lead or supervisor
