ABOUT THIS ROLE
Our team is looking for a Director of Software Development to lead a high-performing team integrating and building innovative AdTech and Marketing content systems that power personalized experiences on the right media channel, with the right creative at the right time. This position requires a leader with strong technical acumen in MarTech, AdTech and Marketing Content platforms, proven people management experience, and the ability to drive technical strategy while delivering customer-focused solutions. You'll be responsible for the integration or end-to-end development lifecycle of complex AdTech and Marketing content systems that harness the power of data and AI to get the right message in front of the right customer at the right time. The focus for the successful candidate will be paid marketing, partnering with marketers, agency, and vendors (including Google, Meta) to use first party data for audience targeting and campaign optimization; and the portfolio of tools and platforms to enable our Marketing Creative team to produce and deploy personalized content at scale.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The mission of the MarTech team is to provide Audible marketing and creative teams with tools and systems that allow them to efficiently and effectively orchestrate and activate a dialogue with prospects and customers. We are responsible for building, buying, or onboarding the tools and capabilities that enable Audible to establish personalized, engaging conversations with our customers. This role brings the Engineering expertise and team leadership into the mix, and partners with Product, Analytics, and Marketing to define and deliver a customer-obsessed product roadmap.

You have deep experience building and leading engineering teams, with a strong foundation in the technology landscape for MarTech and AdTech systems. You demonstrate excellent judgment in balancing technical tradeoffs while maintaining focus on customer experience and business impact.

As Director, Software Development you will...
- Lead and grow a team of software engineers, providing technical mentorship and career development while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment
- Own the technical strategy and roadmap for AdTech and Marketing Content systems that power personalized communications
- Drive architectural decisions and technical excellence in integrating third party software and media partners, and building internal solutions
-Partner with product, science, and platform teams to define and execute on the team's technical vision
- Establish and optimize development processes that enable rapid experimentation while maintaining high quality standards
- Build mechanisms to measure and improve the customer impact of AdTech and Marketing content systems
- Lead hiring and development of diverse technical talent
- Drive operational excellence in deploying and maintaining large-scale AdTech and Marketing content systems
- Influence cross-team technical decisions and contribute to broader organizational strategy
- Champion best practices in MarTech and AdTech engineering, including experimentation, testing, and monitoring

A day in the life

Basic Qualifications

- 7+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years of people management experience
- Experience integrating third party AdTech and Marketing content systems, and building and operating large-scale AdTech systems in production
- Strong technical background in distributed systems, data processing and integration with Media players, and Marketing technology in general
- Track record of delivering complex technical projects through effective team leadership
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience building integrations and pipelines with major media players (Meta, Google, etc.)
- Experience implementing market leading MarTech and AdTech platforms: CRM, CDP, DMP, DSP, Ad Server, Programmatic buying, Search bidding and buying, Programmatic, Attribution, etc.
- Experience implementing market leading Marketing content platforms: Digital Asset Management, Project Management forcontent, Dynamic Content Optimization, Image and copy generation, etc.
- Track record of building and growing high-performing engineering teams
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
- History of mentoring and developing technical talent
