ABOUT THIS ROLE
Our technology teams play a key role in connecting listeners with millions of stories by imagining, designing, developing and testing the software and applications that make up Audible’s platform. As a Senior Director of System Development, you’ll strategize to improve our systems for customers, uncover obstacles, and guide teams to implement solutions. You’ll coach teams to deliver strategic programs in innovative ways. This is your chance to drive the future of our technology, as you’ll mentor future leaders and inspire innovation.

As a Senior Director, System Development, you will...
- Independently lead multiple teams of Support Engineering Managers, Support Engineers (SEs), System Development Engineers (SysDevs), and System Development Managers
- Work with your team to take ownership of critical technologies or major products
- Collaborate and communicate to define the functional and technical architecture of engineering teams, making sure that they align with Audible’s business strategy and priorities
- Apply your analytical skills to solve complex issues by considering their interrelationships and organizational impacts
- Partner with business leaders, technical managers and Senior/Principal Engineers to determine the long-term potentials of architectures and product offerings
- Model and foster Audible’s culture

Basic Qualifications

- 10+ years of engineering or relevant experience
- 5+ years of people management experience, specifically building and leading high-performance engineering teams
- Experience collaborating with and influencing technical leaders
- Experience in creating communication strategies that engage and impact internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience leading a Support Engineering organization
- Experience in budget and financial management
- Ability to create structure out of ambiguity and bring technical visions to life
- An understanding and familiarity with AWS technologies at scale in a production environment
