ABOUT THIS ROLE
Audible UK’s Original Content team are looking for an experienced development executive to work within the existing content commissioning team to support in all aspects of development of our Original Non-Fiction slate. This would include assessing external pitches against our content needs and goals, briefing external partners, working with both external production partners and in-house teams to develop and support the production of factual content for audio and managing feedback and other audio related initiatives in support of the Director of Non-Fiction.
ABOUT YOU
You're experienced in both audio development and production, have a strong knowledge of cultural trends and a solid understanding of how to extrapolate data to help support decision making. You're comfortable working at high volume with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and be able to react fast to changing priorities. You ideally have a background in journalism and documentary making and have strong direct relationships with key talent and production companies in across the media industry. You'll be proactive in strengthening and widening these relationships on a regular basis. You'll be recognized within the business and externally as one of the key individuals to approach for factual story-telling.
This position is a 12 month fixed-term contract.
As a Manager, Original Content, you will…
- Manage Original factual development, identifying external production companies or partners to work with, developing strong partnerships, and articulating Audible’s vision for premium factual storytelling
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the podcasting and feature documentary film/tv industry, actively engaging with note-worthy productions
- Uphold Audible's commitment to great production and pushing boundaries
- Lead talent and development initiatives for upcoming projects, collating feedback, and sharing with stakeholders
- Support external and internal production teams with regular meetings, check-in points, updates, guidance and key decision making
- Collate and conduct original research and data analysis to support decision-making
- Liaise with internal production teams to ensure the delivery of a factual slate to time and budget
- Study scripts, understand key legal and editorial risks and identify ways of supporting original productions
- Identify talent opportunities, and have a keen eye (ear) for talent, nurturing relationships
- Work with external freelancers or production companies on representation, leveraging personal experience and database tools to ensure diversity, inclusion, and authenticity
- Maintain systems for tracking and sharing deals and projects
- Work with the wider team to educate and advance the interests of non-fiction on the original slate
- Work with PR, Marketing, and Content Promotion teams to ensure promotional services are defined and achieved, leveraging personal experience and knowledge about specific performers

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years experience of factual programme making/development in a fast-paced media environment
- Demonstrated organisational and project management skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams under aggressive deadlines
- End to end experience of audio production, including development budgeting
- Journalism and factual story-telling background in audio, film or television
